About Me

I am a very ordinary person who loves to read books, talk about books and write about books. No degrees or credentials, just a huge appreciation for good writing. If you have differing opinions on books I write about here, I'd like to hear what you think. I love a good book discussion and am always eager for the opportunity to look at things from another perspective. So please leave comments telling me what you think.

I read a lot of classics, but I also have favorites in several other genres. I'm not keen on paranormal or romance books. I love a good story, but good writing even more. I know, I know. Good stories and writing can be very much a matter of opinion and in the end we like what we like. Fortunately the book blogging world has room for all tastes and you can always find others whose tastes match yours.

2010 has been a year of literary epiphany for me. When I started this blog I found a whole new world of book lovers available to me. I found authors I'd never heard of, read books I'd never have known existed and began to understand who I am as a reader. I've met people from all corners of the world. Book blogging has been one of the best things I've ever done for myself.

Some books I love are:
A Moveable Feast/Ernest Hemingway
A Year In Provence/Peter Mayle
 An Island Christmas Reader/David Weale
Anything by C.S. Lewis
Emily Dickinson's Poems
Evening Class/Maeve Binchy
Ivor Johnson's Neighbours/Bruce Graham
Luncheon of the Boating Party/Susan Vreeland
My Antonia/Willa Cather
Pride and Prejudice/Jane Austen
Ragged Islands/Don Hannah
September/Rosamunde Pilcher
Shakespeare's sonnets
The Book Of Negroes/Lawrence Hill
